How to Get Here

The Kingfisher Trail is more accessible than ever. You can choose from rail, road, ferry or air.

By Rail

Carrick-on-Shannon Railway Station is the start point on the Southern Section of the trail. It is served by Dublin Connolly Station. For more information check with Irish Rail www.irishrail.ie or tel: +353 1 836 6222.

Please Note: Irish Rail currently offers a very limited service for the carriage of bikes on Dublin–Carrick-on-Shannon route. Please call +353 1 8366 222 for up-to-date information.

By Bus

Connections are available from Bus Eireann and UlsterBus, Enniskillen and Carrick-on-Shannon offers most frequent services. Check out...

What to Bring on Your Trip

  • Comfortable clothing for cycling
  • Casual clothes
  • Waterproofs — it's so green here because it showers!
  • Clothing for any other activities you are planning
  • Sun hat and sun cream
  • Flask or bottle
  • Personal first aid kit
  • Camera and spare film
  • Money — you will need Sterling and Euro currencies; there are ATMs in Enniskillen, Carrick-on-Shannon, Ballyconnell, Ballinamore, Kesh, Belleek, Clones and Belturbet

In case of an accident or emergency the contact numbers are: In Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland 999 or 112.

   

Dialing Codes

Please note as the trail covers both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland you will need to check your prefix before dialling.

Dialling from Northern Ireland to the Republic use the International Dialling Code +353. Eg. 07196 22222 becomes 00353 7196 22222.

Dialling from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland use the prefix 048. Eg. 028 6865 8282 becomes 048 6865 8282.

If dialling from outside of the island of Ireland use the following international codes and drop the first 0 from the local number.

  • Northern Ireland: +44
  • Republic of Ireland: +353
